Ride your Way - with customisable ride modes on the C-Series.

Down the years, motorcycle enthusiasts have celebrated the changing capabilities and unique personalities of combustion engines. From the screaming top-end of an inline-four to the deep rumble of a V-Twin, every bike has its own strengths and quirks. But no matter how much technology has advanced, traditional motorcycles have always been limited by their mechanical DNA – and their riders’ on-road experiences by the engines they choose.

Enter the electric revolution, with powertrains run by sophisticated software delivering a whole new level of control in how our two-wheeled chariots perform.

Savic’s glamorous touchscreen display offers a full swipe-down menu with layout customisation and ride mode adjustments.

The Limitations of Combustion

Ask any seasoned rider, and they’ll tell you: every engine configuration has its trade-offs, Here are some of the configurations I’ve explored – and enjoyed the most:

  • V-Twin RGV250: Pure fun with a wild sound, it’s still slow off the mark and easy to stall if you’re not in the revs. (Not so much fun kickstarting at the lights!)

  • Inline 4 CBR900RR: A legendary top-end, but needed regearing to be enjoyable around town without getting myself in trouble.

  • Inline 3 MT-09: Grunty and snappy off the line, but more vibration and less smoothness than an inline 4, which on those longer rides made you second guess your choices.

  • Modern V-Twins: Turn that vibration up to 10! Either relaxed cruisers with low-end torque but no top end, or wild Supernakeds that are thrilling but never really let you kick back and relax.

Even as ride modes and electronic aids have become more common, the core combustion experience is still dictated by pistons, cams and crankshafts. You can tweak the feel, but you can’t fundamentally change a bike’s nature.

Software-Driven Freedom

This is where a high-powered electric motorcycle like the Savic C-Series really changes the game. With a simple, software-driven powertrain, you’re no longer limited by mechanical constraints; instead, you get to choose the character of your ride, every time you swing a leg over.

When I introduce riders to our C-Series, I love running them through our default ride modes, showing the wide variety of riding styles they have at their disposal. There are four factory ride modes:

  • Standard Mode: Instant, powerful take-off with balanced braking and a linear throttle – perfect for daily riding and urban commutes.

  • Eco Mode: Gentler acceleration, higher regenerative braking to maximise energy recovery, and a softened throttle for those looking to stretch every kilometre from the battery.

  • Rain Mode: A smooth, controlled take-off, low regen, and an ultra-smooth throttle map, designed for maximum control in harsh conditions.

  • Sports Mode: Unleash crazy torque right off the line, with minimal regen for effortless coasting, and a snappy throttle that may get you in trouble if you’re not careful!

In the Modes menu, you have the option to view the default ride modes, as well as creating three of your own customisable modes.

With the option to enable/disable ride modes in the cycle sequence on your switchblock, you can adjust your power, regenerative braking, and throttle response. (Development of throttle response adjustability is still being fine-tuned before it’s made available in our custom settings.)

Customising your ride

Once you’ve mastered the C-Series’ default ride modes, the real magic is to be found in our three custom settings. Riders can fine-tune their power, throttle response, and regenerative braking to suit their mood and the road conditions.

Want the heavy engine braking of a classic V-Twin? Dial it in. Prefer the freewheeling coast of a two-stroke? You can have that too.

This freedom is a true game-changer. Whether you’re in the mood to push the boundaries and tame a wild beast, or just want to relax and soak up the scenery, the C-Series adapts to you – however you set it up. And like all riders, we quickly find our own favourites, so you even have the option to hide the other ride modes and avoid having to cycle through all seven modes to get back to the one you like best!
