How Regenerative Braking Boosts Electric Motorcycle Performance

What is Regenerative Braking?

Regenerative braking is one of the smartest features of electric motorbikes.
Rather than wasting energy when you slow down, regenerative braking turns your electric motor into a generator, feeding power back into your battery.

When you decelerate:

  • Kinetic energy is captured

  • The motor generates electrical energy

  • That energy is stored in your battery for later use

It’s a simple idea that means more range, better efficiency, and less wear on your brakes.


 

How Does It Work on the C-Series?

On the SAVIC C-Series, regenerative braking is active whenever you:

  • Roll off the throttle: You’ll feel a gentle, engine-braking-like resistance.

  • Lightly press the rear brake pedal: Just enough to trigger the brake light, increasing the regen effect.

The system works automatically at any speed, provided:

  • Battery temperature is between 0°C and 45°C

  • Battery is not already fully charged

Pro Tip:
If you can come to a full stop without engaging your mechanical brakes, you’ll maximise the energy recovered > and minimise heat and brake pad wear.

Your Pre-set Modes

Your C-Series comes set up with four modes

Normal mode: an average amount of power paired with an average amount of regen braking. Great for everyday riding.

Sport mode: high power paired with low regen braking - great for spirited rides.

Eco mode: moderate power paired with higher regen braking - great when you are running low on battery and want to get as much out of what's left as possible.

Rain mode: low power paired with low regen braking for a smooth / safer ride.

You can also set up your very own engine and braking mode to customise your ride.


Customisable Braking Strength

The SAVIC C-Series allows you to customise your regenerative braking settings and add your own "mode", so you can choose the level of:

  • Deceleration feel (similar to an ICE bike’s engine braking)

  • Energy recovery rate based on your riding style

This fine-tuned control is managed through the bike’s sophisticated inverter, which handles current flow in both directions - from motor to battery and back again.
