But it’s more than that – it’s a statement of how you travel, your individuality, the care and thought you put into your place in the world.
The café racer has always been part machine, part ritual. Today, in a world that often feels more brash and less certain, this kind of ritual seems somehow sharper, quieter, and more considered – a statement of the way we live and ride.

Where the Café Racer Comes From
The café racer has its roots in 1950s and ’60s London, where riders would move between cafés on stripped-back motorcycles built for short, fast runs across the city. Parked in front of the café, they stood out for their rough and tough appearance, which is what made them so charming.
These weren’t long-haul touring bikes. They were highly personalised machines, designed for:
-
Quick acceleration
-
Lightweight handling
-
Clean, minimal form
The purpose of these bikes was speed, and looks always followed function. Low handlebars, a slim seat, and a focus on essentials created a silhouette that still defines the category today.
But beyond the design, there was a ritualistic rhythm to it:
-
Ride across town
-
Pull up outside a popular meeting point
-
Helmet off, coffee or drink in hand.
That moment – arriving, pausing, taking it all in – became just as important as the ride itself.

Why We Built One First
When Savic Motorcycles set out to design our first motorcycle, the café racer felt like the natural place to start. It reflects how people actually ride: short urban trips, weekend loops, spontaneous rides with no fixed destination.
Dennis Savic, our founder, really wanted timelessness, “a design that stands the test of time. We wanted to launch with a bike, and an aesthetic that would be uniquely Savic, while also being recognisable and timeless. We wanted to create a bike that not only looks good today, but will look good in 20 years.”
The café racer aesthetic also gives space for design to lead. Every line, proportion, and material choice is visible. There’s nowhere to hide. The elongated fuel tanks of the classic café racers also naturally created a space for a large, effective battery unit to live.
Our designer, Dave Hendroff, was instantly drawn to “the simplicity and minimal aesthetics” of classic café racers. "Everything unnecessary has been removed to reduce weight and visual clutter,” he says, “and to maximise speed and handling.”
The electric powertrain not only allowed the Savic crew to ‘future-proof’ our bike for a post-fossil fuel era, but to push the café racer essence even further:
Electric allowed us to push the essence of a cafe racer even further:
-
A cleaner frame without the bulk of a traditional engine
-
A more refined silhouette
-
Instant torque that suits stop-start city riding, versatile enough to power through hill runs and spontaneous adventures.
The result is a bike that feels intentional – and essential – in every detail.

Why Riders Love the Look
There’s a confidence that also comes with the café racer aesthetic. It never relies on aggressive styling or excess detail. Instead, people are naturally drawn in by:
What draws people in:
-
Clean lines that feel balanced from every angle
-
Materials that look and feel premium
-
A presence that stands out without demanding attention
The C-Series fits just as naturally outside a café as it does in a garage.

Built for Real Life, Not Just Weekends
The appeal of a café racer has always been tied to everyday riding. What’s changed is how seamlessly it now fits into daily life.
In the city, the C-Series is:
-
Smooth, quiet riding makes early starts and late returns feel effortless
-
No gears means greater awareness, and less thinking in traffic
-
Responsive acceleration makes short rides more engaging.

Charging is simple:
-
Plug in at home like any other device. Every C-Series comes with a charging cable that plugs from any outlet into the bike’s charging port. That will charge at a rate of 1.8kw (7 - 8 hours for a full charge).
-
Use public chargers while you’re out. You can use faster chargers to increase your charge rate to 3.3kW, on a public charger or a 15 amp outlet at home or in the garage. [4 hours for a full charge]
-
Turn a coffee stop into a quick top-up. Your charging cable fits into your backpack for on-the-go use.

A typical day might start with your bike fully charged in the garage. You ride into work in near silence, glide through traffic, and park right outside.
Later, you stop for a coffee, plug in while you sit down, and by the time you’re ready to leave, you’ve already added range for the ride home. [Alternatively, channel your inner 1950s rocker, get to a café before work, and grab a coffee and a charge before you hit the office!]
In practice, the C-Series gives you the kind of freedom always associated with café racers, through which you can:
-
Charge while you work
-
Top up while you grab a coffee
-
Charge overnight and start each day ready to ride.
The bike fits into your life without asking you to change it.
The New Ritual
Some things haven’t changed. The ride still matters. The arrival still matters. That pause in between still matters.
What’s different is how refined the experience feels: quieter, smoother, more conscious and considered
You ride, you arrive, you step away, and when you come back, your C-Series is ready to go again.
Owning an EV motorcycle like the C-Series feels simple:
-
No fuel stops
-
No engine heat
-
Less ongoing maintenance
-
Charge overnight or on the go
