It’s definitely love that inspires Ryan Wagner to get up early and go to bed late each weekday, to fulfil his duties as Savic Motorcycles’ sales support and customer liaison.
Ryan is one of a growing band of ‘true believers’ who are dedicating their waking hours to the impending rollout of the Savic C-Series. “When I saw the 2018 and 2019 prototypes of this bike, I was blown away,” he says. “I knew, then and there, that I wanted to help out in some way.”
And help out he has, dedicating dozens of hours around his full-time university IT job to support our sales and marketing efforts.
Ryan, 27, was introduced to Dennis by our assembly technician Adam Wilson, who works in the same IT office. Like many passionate motorcyclists, the pair found each other when Ryan saw Adam’s helmet lying on his desk. “We got into a discussion about bikes and pretty soon were good mates,” says Ryan. “One day, he took me to the Savic workshop to drop off a rolling chassis we’d been working on, and what was supposed to be a five-minute visit turned into a 1.5-hour conversation!”
A few weeks later, Ryan reached out to Dennis to see if he needed any help. “Dennis sent me back what was probably the best email I’ve ever received,” says Ryan. “He said he loved helping people follow their passions, and asked me if I’d like to help out with their sales. Of course, I leapt at the chance.”
Since then, Ryan’s supported the team, fielding questions from customers, processing, expressions of Interest, organising promotions. “Luckily my partner Rachel is incredibly forgiving of the time I spend working for Savic,” says Ryan. But then Rachel has been living with Ryan’s motorbike obsession since the day they met – including through a serious accident he suffered in 2019, when Ryan fractured a vertebra and was lucky to get back on his feet.
Although he currently rides a Suzuki, Ryan says he’ll be on a Savic Alpha as soon as he can. “There was a period in the early 2000s when electric bikes were unattractive and uninspiring,” he says. “But this is a genuinely beautiful bike built by very special people. I think it’s going to be around for quite a while – and I’m honoured to be a part of it!”
