Rafe Hoile

Before he left the UK in 2025, and entered the speedy world of Savic sales, Rafe
Hoile’s professional pursuits operated at a slightly more pedestrian pace.
First there was his job at National Highways, the government-owned company
that looks after England’s motorways, where as part of his business
management degree he conducted technical assurance for a major
roadbuilding project – “mostly checking concrete slabs for cracks!” Then there
were three-and-a-half years as a mountain bike coach, “which involved
everything from teaching three-year-olds to ride, to forming and managing a
development mountain bike team”.

So when his partner Olivia set out to lure him to Australia, he didn’t need
much arm-twisting. “The active lifestyle, the weather, friendlier people, a more
exciting life… of course I was in!” And he was in, almost immediately. Within
two months of arriving, Rafe answered a LinkedIn ad for the sales job at Savic
– and then he had a chance to test out the C-Series.

“What a bike,” glows Rafe, who rode a BMW F700GS in the UK. “The C-Series is
so awesome, so fast – so cool in every way. I’ve ridden big bikes and I’m
familiar with the torque of electric cars, but nothing had prepared me for that
torque. This is one product I don’t have to use any fancy sales talk to sell!”
Rafe’s role involves everything from following up leads to organising test
rides, answering technical queries, helping customers find the right insurance
and financing, completing contracts, and organising deliveries. But the part
that should be the most challenging – closing out sales – is the one area he
expects no challenges with.

“I love the design flexibility that allows our clients to change the fundamentals
of the bike, and customise it to suit their style – that’s a really rare thing in the
automotive world,” he says.
“I’m also excited to see how we gain traction in international markets, and potentially move to Europe, where I think we’re going to have huge market
potential at our current price point.”
