ABS Approved: A Major Milestone in C-Series Manufacturing

A Crucial Step for Road-Legal EV Motorbikes

In October 2022, Savic Motorcycles proudly reached a major milestone: the successful completion and approval of its customised Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for the C-Series - our high-performance electric motorcycle.

In Australia, ABS is a legal requirement for all road vehicles. We partnered with Bosch Australia to develop a motorcycle-specific ABS module for our 11kW+ models, ensuring the C-Series meets all necessary safety regulations.

“Bosch will be providing a motorcycle-specific ABS module for us, which will be used in every 11+ kW electric motorcycle that Savic Motorcycles will produce, starting with the C-Series.”
Dennis Savic, CEO & Founder

This achievement puts us one step closer to full Australian Design Rules (ADR) compliance and commercial production.

Built for Stability: Partnering with Bosch Australia

Development began in March 2022, when Bosch fitted a C-Series prototype with their ABS unit, sensors, and computing hardware. From there, the real work began:

  • Months of rigorous testing across diverse surfaces and speeds

  • Countless braking manoeuvres in both controlled and real-world conditions

  • Iterative tuning for balance between robustness, safety, and rider comfort

“Our team enjoyed the challenge of integrating our ABS system with the EV tech on the Savic C-Series prototype.”
Joseph Cavallaro, Chassis Controls Engineering Manager, Bosch Australia

The result? A finely tuned ABS system that offers a responsive, reliable ride in all conditions - true to our commitment to rider safety and innovation.

Road-Test Ready: Handling Every Turn

With ABS testing complete, the C-Series entered full-scale road testing, and passed with flying colours. In Melbourne’s stop-start city traffic and the twisting roads of the Dandenong Ranges, the bike delivered a smooth, confident ride.

“We had everything from dry commutes to downpours on the Black Spur — the bike didn’t even blink,” said our Savic assembly technician. “We still had charge left after a full day. That gives us real confidence this bike will support even the most dedicated riders.”

Performance in city conditions also shone:

  • Agile handling in tight spaces

  • Instant torque with a simple twist of the throttle

  • No gears, no warm-up — just hop on and ride

The Road To Compliance

These twin milestones: ABS approval and successful road testing - marked the final stages of pre-production for the Savic C-Series. After we achieved these milestones, we progressed to: component acquisition and tooling and final ADR tests and certifications
